Super 15 Rugby is one of the most anticipated events in rugby union, especially at club levels. The best players all over the world (the 2020 edition will have fifteen teams from four different continents) come together to fight for top honors. The competition kicks off on the 31st of January with the following matches; Blues vs Chiefs and Brumbies vs Reds. Blues and Brumbies will be the home team for both matches. The competition will last almost five months (the final is slated for 21st of June) and each team will play of total of eight first-round matches.
The current format of the competition groups the fifteen teams into 3 conferences; the New Zealand conference, the Australian conference, and the South African conference.
Five teams from New Zealand will be at the competition; all five teams make up the New Zealand Conference. Four teams from Australia and one from Japan make up the Australian Conference while four teams from South Africa and one from Argentina make up the South African Conference.
The overall salary cap of the Super Rugby is $4.3 million – this becomes Aus$5.5 million after conversion. The average wage of players in the competition is about Aus$125,000. This adjustment was made in 2018 and represented a 10% increase on salary cap.
